Mindfulness at school

Veronika Kunkel not only works at the customer service center, she is also a mindfulness and relaxation trainer. As part of the 80 good deeds, she had the idea of giving the teachers and staff at Streufdorf primary school a special training. “Mindfulness helps you manage stress better in everyday life”, she explains. “Mindfulness aims to let you live more in the here and now. It’s about paying attention to the moment. The goal is to achieve more calmness.”

The teachers, who dedicate themselves to children every day at Streufdorf primary school, are happy about Veronika’s offer. The caretaker and cleaners at the school are also invited. They all meet Veronika in the gym after school finished. The group starts with a simple, but important breathing exercise: they take a deep breath in and hold it. Then they all let the air escape from their lungs very slowly, and repeated the exercise. Various other breathing and yoga exercises, plus valuable tips for mindfulness in their fast-paced daily working life, fill the next hour.

Veronika enjoys how enthusiastic the participants are, and how they focus on their own health and well-being.

Happiness often comes from attention to small things, misfortune often from neglecting small things.
