The Oktoberfest cry “O’zapft is!” is the motto on September 22, not only in Munich, but also in the “Rodacher Leben” retirement center. As the starting shot for the world’s largest folk festival is fired, people are celebrating here, too. Together with the home management, 16 employees of the HABA Family of Companies from the departments Wehrfritz Sales/Trade Goods and JAKO-O E-Commerce organized a fun Oktoberfest party.
They meet in the morning and decorate the room in an Oktoberfest style. In keeping with the theme, there is also a homemade gingerbread heart for every resident, with their name on it. The traditional tapping of the beer keg by home management is accompanied by a brass band from Streufdorf. The Kinderkirmesgesellschaft (children’s fair society), also from Streufdorf, delights the seniors with its dance performance and evokes memories of their own childhood in many residents. And they reminisce about these memories over coffee and cake before the “Schützenkönig” (shooting champion) and his “Ritter” (runners-up) are chosen during the traditional can throwing. There is also a raffle on the agenda, where there are nothing but beaming winners.
“Everyone had a smile on their face.”
Afterwards, the residents of the retirement center don’t want to stay in their chairs, and together with the employees of the HABA Family of Companies and the home management, who are wearing traditional costume especially for this day, they take to the dancefloor until well into the evening.
Ulrike Pfeiffer, Marina Fuchs, and Tamara Schneyer all agree that “the smiles on the residents’ faces were the best thank you”, and they are delighted about the great partnership with the home management. The day is brought to a close with a hearty dinner of bratwurst, potato salad, beer, and punch.
